MOSS LNG RELIQUEFACTION

MOSS Reliquefaction System (Moss RS™)

The Moss Reliquefaction System ensures that the entire cargo reaches the receiving terminal instead of the boil-off being used for ship propulsion. The system has been installed on numerous LNG carriers with slow speed diesel propulsion.

The Moss RS™ is based on a closed nitrogen expansion cycle, extracting heat from the boil-off gas. Several novel features such as partial liquefaction and separation of incondensable components have resulted in a compact system with low power consumption.

The Moss RS™ can be designed to meet a wide range of boil-off rates. In combination with a slow speed diesel or diesel-electric propulsion system, the Moss RS™ has both economic and technical advantages.

Advantages:

  • Increased delivered cargo quantity

  • Large savings in total fuel consumption

  • Reduced heel required on ballast voyage

  • Improved propulsion redundancy

  • More profitable freight contracts
