Moss solutions for CCS

Moss Maritime aim to address the global climate change by applying our innovation skills and expertise from the O&G industry, which includes 50 years of experience with design of gas carriers and cargo handling systems for LPG and LNG. A crucial contribution is developing cost-efficient solutions for shipping and storing of CO2. We offer designs and multi-discipline engineering services to shipowners, shipyards, and charterers, covering all project phases from concept to detail engineering.

Moss LCO2 carriers

Moss has developed LCO2 carrier designs for different cargo capacities, with containment systems that can operate at medium or low pressure, suitable for terminal-to-terminal transport or for discharging offshore. The ships are designed to be fuel flexible and are ready for use of green fuels such as ammonia and green methanol to reduce emissions and comply with IMO and EU requirements.

Offshore LCO2 injection

Moss provides different design solutions for offshore CO2 injection, such as shuttling ships equipped with heating and pumping facilities for direct CO2 injection and permanently moored floating storage and injection units (FSIU). Based on our expertise in design of floaters and semi-submersible platforms, coupled with our extensive experience with LNG regasification systems design, we have developed a proprietary Moss Floating Injection Unit (FIU) fitted with our modular CO2 conditioning system. The Moss FIU is a small, unmanned platform with minimized steel weight and reduced cost while ensuring the good stability and excellent motion characteristics typical of our semi-submersibles.

Onboard carbon capture

Moss Maritime cooperate with providers of onboard carbon capture technology such as Ionada and Wärtsilä, offering engineering services for integration of systems onboard existing vessels or newbuilds. Some examples of our projects are shown below.

Saipem CCUS

Moss Maritime’s owner Saipem is a global leader in CCUS- Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage. Together we can offer an end-to-end CO2 management. Read more on Saipem’s website.
